Sean Clough, age 21 and resident of Smithfield, is running for Smithfield School Committee. Having graduated from Smithfield High, Sean believes he can relate to students and bring their perspective to the Committee.

While attending high school, Sean was a member of the local Boy Scouts, Troop One Greenville. He was accepted at Roger Williams University, planning to pursue a degree in Architecture. At RWU, Sean hosted a weekly political radio talk show where he found his passion for politics and public service. He transferred to RIC to pursue a dual degree in Political Science and Economics.

“Having attended our local schools allows me the appreciation for students to have the best education possible,” stated Clough. “As a college student, I know how difficult it is for families to get by and can understand the significance for maintaining the lowest taxes.”

Clough intends on running a campaign that will push for fiscal responsibility within the school district and innovative solutions to solve any problem that confronts the committee. Sean believes that his age and outlook will aid in making decisions that will benefit all students. Sean lives with his parents and has three siblings, one of which has special needs.
